Custom Decorated Ceramic Coffee Mugs

Using FTP to upload your files to our server

If you do not want to send your files and art as an attachment to an e-mail, you can also use FTP to transfer (or upload) your files to our Web servers. Netscape's Navigator/Composer, for example, lets you access our FTP servers in the same way you access our Web (HTTP) servers.

After you have accessed our FTP server, you can upload your files to our site with either one of these two methods:

  • After you have accessed our FTP server, you can upload files to our site by dragging and dropping them from the Windows File Manager, Explorer or the Navigator browser window. This process is easier if all your Web page files are located in one directory on your local disk.
  • Alternatively, and the method we prefer, after you've accessed our FTP site, choose in the Navigator's  File menu the Upload File item. In the resulting dialog box, select the file on your hard disk that you wish to upload.

To FTP us your files, use this FTP address:

ftp://ftp.bitmark.com/pub/incoming

After you have uploaded your files you have to send us an e-mail informing us of this transfer as otherwise we'll not know about it since we only check this incoming directory once a week and hence cannot take action until then.

More details and notes:

PLEASE - DO NO SEND LOW RESOLUTION FILES
We cannot print decent images on mugs using files with only a resolution of 72 dpi's, such as for example, .gif files. For more on this please consult here.
Thank you for your consideration.

Information to include with your file:

Please prepare a text file that includes your name, phone, address, and e-mail address. Then compress all together either with WinZip (for PC's) or Stuff-it (for Mac's) with your file to be up-loaded. Also, please e-mail us the name of the file(s) you have FTP'd and include your name, phone, e-mail address, etc.

You can use Netscape Navigator to upload or download files to us. For the URL address enter: ftp.bitmark.com/pub/incoming.
Follow the on-screen instructions, then go under the "File" menu to "Upload File" and you're off and running.

With regular FTP Software use as:
FTP address:
ftp.bitmark.com/pub/incoming
name: anonymous
password:    your e-mail address.

Make sure you up-load your files to our bitmark.com directory: pub/incoming/ once you reach our server.

For Mac users we recommend using "Fetch" for doing your FTP transfers. You can download Fetch 3.0 at Shareware.com or similar download sites.
For PC users we recommend one of the Winsock products like those offered at the TUCOWS web site. You can also use any other PC or Mac software that supports the FTP protocol.

Please compress all uploads: Making sure that your file(s) are compressed and combined into ONE archive as this makes it very easy to send, receive and process digital files. We currently support the following types of file compression software: WinZip, PK Zip  or Stuff-It.

Note: Most FTP client software lets you choose either ASCII text or binary transfer mode. Although HTML files themselves can be transferred as text files, other files, such as .JPEG and .GIF files, cannot be correctly transferred that way. In the Navigator/Composer, files are uploaded to FTP sites in binary mode by default.

You might find the FTP directory and content pages have minimal formatting. When possible, the browser window shows the type, size, date, and a short description of each file in a directory. A directory is presented as a list of links; each link is often preceded by a small icon indicating another directory or a file. Clicking on a directory link displays a subdirectory. Typically, at the top of a subdirectory is a link that displays the parent directory.
